The answering machine


I phoned up Ben the other day
but it seemed that he wasn't there
a machine answered the call
and it caught me unaware

The answering machine is broken
and at the moment no one's home
it's the refrigerator speaking
please leave a message at the tone

I'll write it on the scrap pad
and stick it on my door
with the little apple magnet
that keeps falling on the floor
