At the zoo
The giraffe is kinda daft
and he sure gives me a laugh
when he wants a drink of water
he folds himself in half
The Nile crocodile
has the world’s widest smile
but it’s not because he’s happy
happy’s not his style
The ape enjoys a jape
and he keeps himself in shape
I think he has a cunning plan
of making his escape
I don’t care for the bear
or his antagonistic glare
I could see him thinking evil thoughts
when people stopped to stare
I saw a scowl from the owl
when the peacock gave a howl
he hasn’t slept a wink all day
and he hates that stupid fowl
An orang-utang’s like an ugly man
and one of them has an aching fang
he’s moping around and bothering
all the others in the gang
It’s hard to gauge the age
of the man who cleans the cage
but he won’t get any older
if the lion’s in a rage
