Carol and the imbecile

But Carol never hurt no one
and she gets quite a fright
when people throw things at her
because they think she'll bite
and so she rears her hood again
to make them think she might
One day some people caught her
and put her in a basket
and this time she got really scared
she thought it was her casket
a question needed answering
but she was to alarmed to ask it
When someone took the lid away
she heard an eerie sound
so she lifted up her head
to see just what was going round
a strange man with a flute
was squatting on the ground
Lots of folk had gathered round
this weak-minded imbecile
and when they noticed Carol
they all began to squeal
'they've never seen such beauty'
thought Carol 'How unreal!'
Now all the folk were overawed
as she began to dance and sway
Carol's rather ostentatious
when she's giving a display
but when she left the basket
her audience ran away
The imbecile put down his flute
and tried to catch her with his cane
but Carol was much too speedy
and avoided him with disdain
then he too turned and fled
as Carol raised her hood again
So Carol went back to her nest
a cosy little den
and now she's rather wary
of imbecilic men
and every time she sees one
she lifts her hood again
