The circle and the square


While sitting on the garden shed
I thought I saw a hare
but then as I got out of bed
I found it wasn't there
and in it's place I saw instead
a circle in a square

So I went and got a kitchen fork
to poke the circle out
but as I did I heard it talk
the square began to shout
so I poked it with a wooden cork
and wiggled it about

Then I saw the bathroom light
chewing on a mop
I said 'that isn't very bright
you really ought to stop
I think it is an awful sight'
and it went out with a pop

In the darkness I could trace
a trumpet and a flute
the trumpet said 'I like your face
you're really very cute'
and the flute said with a warm embrace
'won't you take off your mute?'
