The tail of a lizard
This is the tail of a lizard
it's come off the body you see
it happens when lizards get frightened
a process called autotomy
The poor lizard wobbles about
with no tail for stabilisation
but soon a lovely new one will grow
and this is called regeneration
Larry was a lizard
who one day lost his tail
a cat had tried to catch him
but autotomy didn't fail
A paltry meal of lizard's tail
was eaten by the cat
and then to Larry's pure delight
regeneration put it back
