So close it warmed the senses
so powerful, intense, so bright
surrounded by the warmth of elysian fields
the all-consuming light

Angels, fairies, stardust
the dynamics of elation
a silent shout, no waves of doubt
perfect anticipation

Relief so overwhelming
expressions of the truth
outpouring of all conscious thought
the flight of eternal youth

Now the darkness closes in
the day returns to night
the dawn of understanding
the death of artificial light

The horror, the pain, the emptiness
the tears that fall unseen
the memories awoken by every song
the thoughts of what might have been
