Tide
His boat was held together
by barnacles and rust
and every day he'd sail away
he said 'in God I trust'
He never took a life jacket
though he couldn't swim a stroke
and when I asked him why, he said
'I take a cake of soap'
'If my boat goes to the bottom
and my fish are free once more
I'll take the soap out of its packet
and wash myself ashore'
