The farmyard tale is a wholesome one
the sheep and the goats and the chickens run
and the grass is green and the birds all sing
and down in the village hear the church bell ring
There’s a donkey on the grass with a fence post up his nose
and the pig is with the duck and he’s giving her a rose
The sun has risen and is climbing up the sky
and the little baby sparrow is learning how to fly
the lambs are gambolling and the cows look on
because the spring has sprung and the winter’s gone
The ducks all cluck and the rabbits all skip
the snakes all hiss and the farmer’s on the ship
